Default my pool looks like a swamp

i just filled my pool two days ago and turned filter on today. Added chlorine today because pool was starting to turn green. Now its greenish/brown and chlorine level looks okay. What to do?

What is the source of your fill water --- a well or city water?

What kind of kit did you use? Test strips don't count.

Exactly what all have you added to the pool -- meaning ingredients and not just 'chlorine' or 'shock.'

What kind of pool is it and what is the volume?

What size is the pump and what kind and size is the filter?

Repost with requested info and somebody here will try and help.

I filled pool from well water and tested water with the liquid dye kit.

The pool is a 16' round, Intex vinyl lining, 6000 gal. The pump is the cartridge filter type. Just the paper filter type. The pool sat for about two days before putting in chlorine and installing pump. Added the 1" chlorine tabs you get at kmart and the out in the shock treatment.

    Now it's mustard color.

Is it hard to drain and refill?

If it's not, it would be easier to drain and refill and start over. It will be SLOW to clear it up with the Intex pump & filter.

BUT, if that's an option, do NOT run out and drain it right now. There are several things you'll need first. If you have kids, they CAN swim, as long as there is enough chlorine; just have the wear old swim suits. The iron is not harmful to people, but it's rather hard on clothes.
