    Default No chlorine

    My pool is fine. My neighbor whos pool is 10 yrs old and has always used pucks and granular shock, is having a prob holding chlorine. She called and I went over with my kit. ( This is my 2nd year and first using bleach and everything is perfect so far) So I dont have much experience treating probs. Her pool is clear but its not holding chlorine.
    Fc- 0
    ph-6.8
    alk- 60 I added baking soda looks around 80 now.
    cya - 10 . I believe I have it at 30. Im out of reagent
    cc-1
    She has pucks in the skimmer and shocks everynight with no sign of chlorine next day. I took over some bleach to see if it will raise. I wanted to get alc up before I raized ph . Im just checking for anymore advice. Pool is Gunite 31,000 gals. Since pool is clr and cc just 1 I did not know if it needs to be at shock level. Sorry to be longwinded.

    cc=1

    She's fighting something and it's consuming the chlorine.

    Use some bleach and shock the pool up to 15ppm, check it 3x/day and see if that breaks it.

    pH Up will raise Total Alkalinity as well, which is needed. So go ahead and use the pH Up first, before the Borax because T/A is low.

    You can just pour the bleach into the skimmer, or in front of the return (with the pump on, of course) or dribble it all around the edges of the pool.

    Sorry Carl I have to jump in. Don't pour the bleach in the skimmer if she is still using the pucks in them.

    thanks

    Would rather see him safe even if he knew this already. Ahhh, I feel better about it.

    Sorry about that Carl. Sometimes when I post I have a followup question that doesnt get answered. Anyway Ill use the bleach calc to shock up to 15. How long after I add bleach should I check. How long does it take to dispurse .

    I like to wait at least 2 hours, just to see what I put in, and 6-24 to see if it was effective.
