Should I scrub again today or just vacuum? I didnt scrub yesterday.
I will test later in the day and if it has dropped should I bring it back up to keep it shocked for one more night? Then let it come down naturally?

Go ahead and brush and if something to vacuum up, do that, too. Yes to keeping chlorine high for another day. Run your pump 24/7 until it is totally cleared up.

The algae problem seems to be under control. My water is crystal clear and I don't lose chlorine overnight.
My SWG is not producing chlorine so we have ordered another one and I am using bleach in the meantime.
My levels yesterday were
FC 6
CC 0
CYA 65
TA 90
PH 8.2 these numbers were really different from the pool store calculations which were FC 3.8 CC .43 CYA 73 TA 45 PH 8.2. I have decided to trust my numbers because the pool store doesn't correlate CYA with chlorine and their "recommended" targets don't make sense compared to BBB.
My problem is stains on the bottom of the deep end. I wanted them to test for metals and it came back 0.
I brought the PH down with MA and today it is 7.5
Could they be metal stains from when I (and the pool company) used algaeside? They used it every year when opening and this year too. The stains are an ugly brown, intermittent with a whitish cloudy over all bleached appearance of the bottom liner. I thought it was from all the powdery stuff they had me dumping in the pool last year that may have bleached the bottom mixed with debri stains from over the last few winters.
Is there a product I can use that will remove all stains if I can't tell what they are?

I have a few questions about the slipperyness of the bottom of my pool. I tried to rename this thread but couldn't do it.
The SLAM worked and my pool has been crystal clear since. My problem is the slippery bottom. I have read a million times on here that slippery means algae...but my numbers are all great. I also read that perhaps the water isn't circulating enough over the bottom of the pool and a fine layer is forming there. I scrub at least every two days and have an automated pool cleaner that also "scrubs" the sides and bottom.
The interesting thing is this,
Once the pool was slammed and the water was clear (6/19) with no chlorine loss overnight I used bleach to keep the chlorine levels up until we got our new SWG cell on 6/20. We installed it that day and set it to 60%. My numbers that day were
FC 7 CC .5 and they were the same that night.
6/21 early am FC was 7.5 and that night 7. On Sunday 6/22 my numbers were
FC 8
CC 0
PH 7.8
TA 75-80
CYA 60
CH 120
Salt 3300. The bottom was "squeeky clean" for the first time in years. There was no slime or residue! Monday eve the FC was 7.5 and PH was 7.8. Still great with no slime. I was still making sure the SWG was set at the correct output and seemed to be holding.
Tuesday 6/24 we went on vacation for a week. We had someone vacuum the pool and they used it while we were gone with kids etc. We also has a huge rainstorm that week and a few inches were added to the pool.
When I returned 6/29 the numbers were FC 6, PH 7.6, CYA 60, TA 60, I added bleach and a littlewashing soda because the pool seemed to be doing so well with the higher PH. The bottom was super slippery.
Monday 6/30 the PH was 8.2 and FC was 8. the bottom was dangerously slippery. I added a little acid and yesterday (after a day in the sun) my numbers were FC 7.CC .5...PH 7.8...CYA 60..TA 80...CH 110. The pool bottom felt a lot better. Not like it did a week ago when it was perfect but better. I had the pool store test for metals and phosphates.
Their numbers were FC 5.63...CC .14...PH 8.3...CH 64...TA 75...CYA 82...Copper .1..Iron .2...Borate 5ppm. I changed the output of the SWG to 70% to keep from losing during the day.
This am my numbers are PH 7.8..FC 7. So no overnight loss and the bottom is the same as yesterday.
I am wondering first...why are their numbers so different than mine? Second..can the PH and FC affect the slipperyness? Could it be that my pool needs a high PH and high FC to keep the bottom from being slippery? I also noticed my TA was higher when the bottom was clean...can a higher TA help with slippery conditions? It was higher after the washing soda when I raised the PH.
Should I rause the PH to 8 and FC to 9 ?
They said the phosphates were between 200 and 400. I don't know what that means..btw..the girl really didn't seem to have a clue.
I just don't think it is algae since I had some success with the bottom before I left.
