    Default Solar cover reel frustration

    16 x 28 Oval pool
    Inground vinyl pool
    Hayward cartridge filter
    Hayward Maxflo single speed pump
    ~12500 gallons

Rolling the cover to the reel is a simple one person operation.
Laying it back on the pool literally takes 10x longer. I cut the cover carefully so it fits exactly the surface area of the pool.

I am looking for suggestions in particular, when I reel the cover (16 mil) back to the pool that the bubble side faces down. The coping sticks out towards the pool by about 2".
In addition, since the instructions suggested the reel will have to be place where the radius ends (oval pool), the half circle always follow the longer end in the same direction. In 9 out of 10 times, I have to go back to the water to set it right.

The solar cover is such a hassle, however, its effectiveness in heating the pool is greater than what I hoped for. If someone ran into a similar situation, any solution you have tried and worked is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

It's hard for us to envision exactly where the problem is. It would help if you could get your spouse or partner to video you removing and then replacing the cover. Post the video on YouTube, and we'll take a look.

However, if I'm understanding you correctly, the cover is about 4" wider than the dimension from coping edge to coping edge. *IF* the problem is that the cover doesn't drop in and slide smoothly, the solution might be as simple as trimming 2.5" from each side, so the cover CAN drop in easily.
