    Default Pentair intellichlor upgrade

I currently have a pentair CL20 that has gone bad and am going to replace it.

My question is would I benefit from moving up to a CL40 & can I still use my original control panel?

My pool is 18,000 gal so it's pushing the max of the CL20

    Thank you in advance
    Sean

The larger SWG should last twice as long and give you some head room so you can reduce run time if you want saving on pump energy.

Thank you.. Is it still okay to use the same power box I have or would I have to change that out as well..

Do you recommend running it on 40% as opposed to the 60% I was running it on with the CL20

To get the same chlorine level, you should run the 40 1/2 as much as the 20 because it generates twice the chlorine. So if you were running 60% and you have the correct chlorine level, then 30% should be sufficient.

The power box should support both cells but check the manual first.

Pentair only has one power center for their IC series. It works OK with the 2 smaller units, but tends to overheat with the IC-60. I have a box fan resting in front of a bank of for power centers driving 4 IC-60 units . . . and the things still get hot.
