How did you get a CYA reading of 24? The test can't distinguish readings below 30ppm. Also, what kit are you using?

Until you get your CYA reading to around 40ish, you may need to test twice per day to maintain a chlorine reading but then should be able to go to testing and dosing in the evenings only. Keep an eye on your pH. If it drops lower than 7.2, add a little Borax to bump it back up.

Congrats on the new pool and welcome to the Pool Forum! Let us know if you have more questions.

    . . . membership upgraded.

Since your pool is freshly filled, you have the option for using the Super Simple Recipe => http://pool9.net/ssr/

One key point about pools: it's much, much easier to AVOID problems, than to fix them. New pool owners commonly get into trouble when
    1. It rains, and they slack off pool care. When they remember to start back, algae has gotten a foot hold.
    2. They go on vacation. That one's tricky. Ask once you know more.
    3. They get 'pool-stored', spending bunches of money to screw up their pool, and then more to fix it.

    Good luck!
