Default New Doughboy with liner leak

We just had our 16x32 AG Dougboy installed in May. It's been cool weather here so I've only been in the pool 4-5 times. Last week I noticed the ground around the skimmer was wet. I watched it for a day to verify it wasn't just from splash out and then called the pool installer (not an employee of the Doughboy dealer). He came out Saturday and thought it was either in the seam or a hole in the liner. He did not believe it was a leak around the skimmer itself. Does anyone have any tips for figuring out where the leak is coming from? Also, I had my water hauled in (4 truckloads = $360). If it is a seam failure, shouldn't Doughboy cover the labor and water costs as well as replacing the liner? I wanted to get feedback here as to what I might expect to happen before approaching the dealer about it. Thanks.

I just got a new Doughboy pool and I recall the dealer offering an extended warranty because (I believe) the Doughboy warranty only covered the liner itself and not the installation or water costs. Check your Doughboy documentation and the contract from your installer to see exactly what they cover and specifically do not cover.

I did not purchase the extended coverage by the way.

I don't know how to help you find the leak. I have read from other threads that finding leaks can be very difficult but if you can see wetness that may make it easier to find. The only suggestion I can think of is to drain the water below the skimmer and see if the wetness continues. That would at least isolate the problem to one small area.

    Good luck.

Without the extended warranty you will not get much help from Doughboy. The best bet is to find the hole and patch it. Your target area is the top of the cove in the center of your wet spot area. Goggles make finding the hole fairly easy. It looks like a black spot or line.

It is so much cheaper to find and patch a hole than changing a liner. And the best part is you don't loose any swimming time.
