I like the metal-framed ones. I had a plastic one like yours and after 3 years it was garbage. I have had a metal one since and it's 8 or 9 years old and fine. I DO store it in winter.
A few years ago I purchased a cheap solar cover reel. The ends are plastic and sit down in these plastic holders. The rolling action is terrible and the thing wants to tip over constantly. The bases on each side have holes for permanent installation, but I don't want a permanent installation. Any advice or links to a good reel that can be moved out of the way when the cover is not on the pool?
