    Default Salt generators

looking forward to being a forum member, and considering adding NaCl generator and supplementing w/liquid chlorine for reduced costs, efficiency, etc.

Hi, Maurice, and welcome to the Pool Forum! A lot of people do like their SWG for the convenience it offers of not having to check their pool chemistry as often but as far as reducing costs, that isn't likely. SWG are quite expensive to purchase!

    Hi Maurice!

After 13 years I finally installed an SWCG last season and, while I love it, it will NOT save you money versus our B-B-B method of pool care. In fact, it will cost you more. Absolutely.

What it will do is give you lower time spent on maintenance and allow you to leave the pool for several days or even a week or two without worry of coming home to a biology project!

In another thread I broke down the opportunity cost of a good system and how much liquid chlorine you could buy. It can cost 2 to 3 times what our Bleach, Borax, and Baking soda system can cost when annualized.
