    Default pump question

I have an inground pool. Just opened for the year and skimmer nearest pump works fine but further one seems to now work as it should. I've only had pool for one season so I am new to this. It does have the whirling inside but does not seem to catch much. I can watch things float by. pool is a 16X34 and has a 1 hp pump. Thinking I need a bigger pump???

Are there weirs (flappy-floaty doors) in the skimmers?

What kind of filter do you have? Does it need to be cleaned? When the pressure goes up 8-10psi over clean filter pressure, it needs to be cleaned. That can also make a difference.

A lot depends on how the pool is plumbed.

Did they run separate lines for each skimmer or tee them together, separate you have control by valving them at the equipment ,also your return lines should be aimed at the skimmer across the way pushing towards it , is it 1 1/2 in plumbing or 2" alot of variables, a 1 hp should be enough in most cases you have to look at cost of operation vs time ( a small pump running 8-10 hrs /day or a larger running 6/day)
