is there a way I can post in a forum that will get views? FOr some reason about the whole site disappeared when I logged in. Not very user friendly in my opinion!

Once Ben completes your registration (hopefully today), he will move your post into the correct section of the forum where everyone will be able to see it. And, at that time, you will also be able to see the whole forum while logged in. Sorry it doesn't seem user-friendly but it is an attempt to verify the identity of new members to make sure they aren't hackers. Only a temporary nuisance.
