Default Product to help clear pool

New guy here. I tried the search feature but I wouldn't allow me to use it.

I have a above ground pool that's uses chlorine. I usually keep this pool up all year but the past year it turn green with algae. When I first started to open the pool this year I balanced everything, raised the chlorine level and shocked it hard. The green turned to a cloudy light blue. I can see about 8" into the water ( pool is 52" deep). I changed the sand in the filter and it has been running for 2 weeks. I'm thinking the particles are to small to be filtered out. Any good products to clump the small particles together to get filtered? Tips?

    Thank you!

Go to the Pool Equipment and Operations section of the forum. There is a stickied thread called "Adding DE to a sand filter" that you might find helpful. I think it is the third or fourth thread in that section.

As far as searching goes, it is much better to use the Google Search in the bottom of mine or PoolDoc's signatures. It will search all of the forum plus our sister website poolsolutions.com and will be much better than the search feature that is part of the forum software.

    Welcome to the Pool Forum!

Polyquat 60% is the only algaecide recommended here and it also acts as a clarifier helping to clump the particles so they'll stay in the sand.

Thanks again for the help! I took my water sample to a local pool place. Everything was in specs. Even after the flock/clarifier it is still cloudy. Actually it didn't help any. I'll be draining it this weekend and starting over.
