Here is a pic from last year, I need to get some from this year though, especially a night one with the lights going. Plus, I have a lot more plants now. I would love to see other peoples above grounds, they are awkward to incorporate inot a yard.

Well that is either a Fanta Sea (they are awesome ONground pools, CarlD has one) or an IG, in which case its in the wrong thread and should be moved...
Anywho, here is my try at posting inline...
Ours is just operational for less than a week now, but we did actually get our first test drive family swim yesterday and I have to say - I LOVE our new pool. There is still lots of landscaping, etc to do but now its "Our Pool"....instead of just "The BIG job"
Pic 1 - Pool toys, snorkeling equipment and swimming begins! Panel rack and poolside shower shown - both our DIY projects.
Pic 2- Ray, our Macaw, wants to try the snorkeling fins too!

Beats driving to the lake!
18'x33'x52" AG oval, hard plumbed system, 22" Pentair Meteor Filter 1.5hp pump, Goldline SWCG System, 2/4x20 SolarBear Panels, Biltmore Steps - 16x14' composite deck, Pool Rover Jr
Our pool is a 12 x 24 ft Kayak pool that we sunk a few feet into the ground (so it would line up with the existing deck on the side of the house). We bought it second hand for a steal, put a little $$ into getting some new parts (liner, filter, ladder) and have been loving it for about 4 years now.![]()
Here are a few pics from outside the pool area.

This is an older picture of my pool, and, yes, it IS A/G. But it looks the same...
This is looking at the back of the house--it's attached to our deck:
and this is the gate look from the back of the house.
I did all the design work on all the woodwork on the deck and rails, designed and laid out the foundation and acted as my own GC.
The decking around the pool is all hollow panels and water gets pumped through them. So it's a solar heated pool, and the circulating water keeps the deck from burning your feet. Credit for that goes to FantaSea, who built the basic pool and solar decking. It's a custom size: 16'x40' with a 5'6" deep section. They usually do 20'x40' and 16'x32', or 12'x40' for lapping.
Since it's all cedar, every picket had to be milled by me, the gate is my own design, mortised and tenoned because I couldn't STAND the idea of a diagonal on the gate. Even the sill plate under the gate is custom-made by me. It's GREAT at keeping your toes from getting bashed. In 4 years, nobody's have been bashed by it! It's all to BOCA and town codes and passed inspections with no problem.

Carl
It is absolutely beautiful! It must be wonderful to sit there and think that you did it yourself! Best of luck, and happy swimming.

This is my pool in progress, I want to add a deck, and of course more plants. I also have the DE filter which will go in along with my sand filter, probably next year. I will be foregoing the use of the Nature2 next year also, I am interested in whether or not it is really needed, I tend to think it isn't.
All of the work has been done by me, from the setup of the pool, to the brick sidewalk, to the landscaping. I will get some night shots here soon with the sidewalk lit up and the pool light on, it looks cool.
