I'd consider a deeper pool also. My kids are 10 and 11 and they do cannonballs and jumps and stuff into our 52" pool and frequently bottom out. Even though they know not to dive, slamming your back or your knees on the bottom isn't much fun either. As an adult I can't jump into our pool at all, It's like jumping off a 4 foot wall onto cement and forget cannonballs I'd kill my back.

Mine is 4' on the ends, and 5' in the middle. I cannonball into mine all the time. I bump my butt on the bottom, but only lightly.

And no, i'm not a little guy

Mine is 3.5' at one end and then slopes to 6' at the other. I like it like that .

Our IG has a 3' shallow end then slopes to an 8' deep end, average depth of 5.5'.

The kids like it, but when we go to my dad's, he has a 4' AG (not sure of diameter) so we can play volleyball, and everyone has a blast. We've tried to replicate this in our pool, and it just doesn't work. If I were installing our pool again, I'd think long and hard about a deep deep end.

I guess the grass is always greener...

From what I read and hear. Sport pools are good, but if you have kids or your still a kid , I say get a pool w/ deep end. That way you can jump into the pool. Not to say getting you need to get a diving board, but w/ my two children it seems that they love to jump. My oldest on our boat; all he would do is jump off and climb in and keeep going back and forth doing it.

Were getting a deep end pool and since our kids like to jump and do not want a diving board. We will be adding a jumping rock (big rock that close to the pool ledge) and they can get higher air before the splash.

Ditto! Well, ditto to the dimension part, I don't know if I like it yet. I'll let you know in a month or so. We're at gunite and hopefully we'll have water soon.

Holy crap, I just realized what those little threaded plastic holes in the deck around my pool are for.

Volleyball net posts. They are opposite from each other and the net would go right over the center of the pool. It only took my 7 months to figure that out.

Mine is 3.5 on all sides and goes to 5 ft in the center. It's perfect for us.

I have a 16X32 Kidney with a 3.5 ft shallow end going to 6.5 ft deep end. In spite of the rule no diving some of my daughters friends will push the envelope of what I consider to be a dive. That and the cannonballs makes me glad that it was at least this deep.
