Default Where to put new light?

    Hi,
I'm trying to change the liner in my 18' round pool. I figured with the water out, now would be the time to install that pool light I always wanted. I ordered a Hayward Elite light kit and was just wondering if there were any recommendations for where to put it in the pool. I have decking all around the pool; one end is larger than the rest and I thought the light should be on that side so someone standing there wouldn't be looking into the light. Also on a 48" high wall, how high up should it be? I know alot of the lights are made to go into the water outlet, but is that the best location?
    Thanks, more questions to follow,
    Jeff

Jeff, my pool is going to be put up next week. We are looking for the same info. I would be interested to hear the likes/dislikes of this light by those who may already have it........thanks!

Well the light came today and the instructions don't give you much leeway on where to put the light. The light has to be put 12" down from the top and 12" from a vertical stay. 12" down is only a few inches below the water line. I would think it should be deeper.

My next question is should I wait until the pool is almost filled before I cut the liner? I'm guessing it will stretch a little and if I cut the hole ahead of time the liner may wrinkle.

Hi Jeff, the 12" down is important but works out just fine. As for cutting the holes. The new hole in the wall (if you are making one) should be done before the liner goes in the pool. The hole in the liner should wait until the water is just below the opening in the wall.

My pool gets put up tuesday, I am still trying to debate on whether or not to put it in. They guy who delivered the pool said I should check and see if the warranty is affected by putting it in. Another thing he mentioned was it cracking in the winter but since hearing they are only 12" from the top I am guessing this will not be a problem.

hrsdennis.......I am wondering if you hear any complaints about this light or any other info you might have on it?

    Thanks
    Meade

Hi Meade, I have never heard of light voiding a warranty. Especially if you use your existing return hole. I could not find mention of a brand so I will just offer this. I have seen the most problems with ther Aqua Illuminator. The bulbs and the power boxes weem to go bad on a regular basis. That's just what I have seen and experienced for myself.
