    Thank you for your reply.

    Two weeks ago I shocked at 20 ppm for 3 days with pump on for 3 days, maintaining that level nearly the entire time. It did get cloudy and and the filter pressure level rose quite significantly. I back washed it and the pool has been clear since then.

    As the pool has an ongoing iron problem due to airborne red dirt (ferric oxide aka rust) I use Omni's Stain Treat to keep the metal in solution could that be having any effect on the levels?

    Do think it would be best to keep raising the CYA level by 5 ppm until it levels off or should I shock it again? Finally what would be considered a normal daily drop in FC?
