I am interested in this as well. It would be nice if you could automate it to run on low speed for X hours and on high speed for Y hours. Anybody know how to do this and with what devices?
Hi all,
I am considering replacing my old 1 HP pump (on a timer) with a 2 speed pump (e.g. Pentair WhisperFlo WFDS24) to reduce my electric bill. How do I control that ? Do I need a special 2 speed timer ? Or has the motor 2 plugs ?
Thanks a lot
Patrick

My 2-speed pump has an Intermec 2-dial timer. One turns the pump on and off, the other turns it from high to low. In my installation I really only use the speed switching timer because I run the pump continuously, switching to high speed for a few hours a day to operate the in-floor cleaning.
I have an Aqualogic controller with a built SWCG controller. It has two time cycles and for 2-speed pumps, the first is for high speed and the second cycle is for low speed. A pretty good set up for 2 speed pumps and a SWCG.
