Question Winterizing questions - fix algae now, or in spring?

Hello forum! I am late in winterizing b/c I've been trying to get the green out after too long ignored. Now I'm wondering if I wait until spring or chlorine shock it now. This is my first year owning (came with the house) so it's all new to me. Any suggestions on winterizing also appreciated.

Above ground 24', Vinyl, 16.500 gal. Hayward Sand filter S210T2580, Hayward 1/5 hp pump - CA02-15

    Thank you,

    Buhhdy

    I'd go for now.

It tends to take a LONG time to clear dead algae from the water with an AG pool's sand filter. Partially cover the pool, but leave the filter running, and clean it up now. That way, you won't loose swim season next year.
