    Default please help with cloudiness

I have been fighting cloudy water since I opened. I can still see the pattern on the bottom at 4' but you cannot see more than half way across the pool when looking underwater with goggles. Here are my numbers and I appreciate any help you can give:
    fc 6
    cc 0
    tc 6
    ph 7.6
    ta 240
    cal 170
    cya 28
    temp 70

any advice? I have a pool rover that works great and have been running the pump 24/7.Thanks for your help,
    Dave

    Hi, Dave,

Assuming all your test results are consistent....i.e. you get similar numbers more than once, I believe you need to lower your alkalinity.

Alk really high (yours is) can often result in cloudy conditions in your water and perhaps even some scaling....even more trouble than cloudy water.

Read Ben's posted "sticky" in the Alkalinity forum on how to proceed.

That's the only issue I see with your rest results.

I have a 21" sand filter with 1 1/2 hp pump that runs 24/7. I have read that a cup of DE will help filter finer particles. If it is an Alk problem then I realize that the DE won't help. I will tryto lower the alk and post back in a few days/weeks for an opinion.
Thank you everyone. Everybody here is so helpful.
