I am newly registered but did use a lot of information from this site in setting up my 18x36 Intex pool. Unfortunately due to a series of events I now have green algae in my pool. I have read enough here to hopefully get the cure started.
These are my stats as I know them:
OTO = Orange
CYA = 60
pH = 7.8
I did test the alkalinity and hardness before I started "Shock and Aw" and they were within range. I'm not sure of the waters temperature but it is pretty warm. Feels like bath water during the day.
My algae problem started a couple of weeks ago and I started the higher doses of chlorine (bleach) and my water turned very cloudy. After reading I thought it was the dead algae, but now it is green again. I think I was not aggressive enough the first time around.
I only have the cheap replacement filter cartridges at the moment (have good ones on order) but I am replacing them every couple of days or as needed.
I am brushing/vacuuming the pool daily. It is taking longer than I thought for the water to turn clear.
Let me know what other test results you need and I can get those tomorrow. My husband takes a sample to work where he has access to a machine that tests water quality.
In the meantime is there anything else I should be doing/monitoring?
I know this pool is really not too large to drain and refill but that kind feels like defeat and I'm not ready for that just yet.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
