Default Pool Startup - Cyanuric Acid

    Hello,
I just recently filled my pool. I'm wondering the best way to get my Cyanuric Acid level to 30 ppm. My pool is ~15k gallons. I saw http://www.lesliespool.com/Home/Pool...ers/12306.html and http://www.lesliespool.com/Home/Pool...ers/12302.html for sale. I was wondering if you guys could recommend these or another product? I currently have my FC @ 1 ppm and no stabilizer.

I suggest simply chlorinating with dichlor from Sam's Club until you have added the right amount of cya, then revert back to bleach. For your pool that would be 7.5 lbs of dichlor to get to 30ppm cya... Might want to consider 50-60 though. And don't add it all at once. 1 lb of dichlor will add 4.4 ppm of fc, so add a pound when you need to add chlorine. Or add 2-3 lbs to shock depending on your cya level. See the "best guess" chart here
Also, it can take a week or so for the cya to register in a test, so don't add more if you are not seeing results immediately.

Thanks. I ended up getting http://www.lesliespool.com/Home/Pool...ers/12302.html and adding ~3.75 lbs to my pool per the instructions. Their liquid was twice as expensive and the the label of the previously mentioned product was 99% cyanuric acid. I will continue to use regular 8% bleach to maintain my chlorine levels. Thanks.
