Default Questions abt newly installed Intex above ground pool.

We're in the process of setting up an Intex 12x18 above ground pool. Also have a Saltron Retro Fit Saltwater system.

Questions relate to start up. After we put sand in the filter and salt in the pool as the instrux say, do we need to do anything else, like add any chems or shock treatment? Any info on how to get a pool equipped like this up & runnig properly would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Two points:

    1. Salt systems tend to not work well for folks who haven't learned how to run their pools WITHOUT salt. They are hugely oversold, and many new pool owners think they are reliable full pool chemistry automation systems. In fact such systems aren't available for any price! SWCG's are merely a METHOD of feeding chlorine into your pool and that is ALL.

    2. Probably the best way to start is to follow the SS recipe (link in the blue block below) and then switch the salt on AFTER you've gotten a handle on pool chemistry and testing in general.
