    Default cyanuric acid test

When using a drop based test kit to test for cyanuric acid is the reading correct when the black dot just starts to disappear or when it completely disappears? I am using a Taylor test kit.

When reading this, my reading is different in shade or overhead sunlight which is more acurate.

actually, cya testing should be done by nothern light, not direct sunlight by everything that I have been able to find out about this test. I do it in the shade out of direct sun light but not in dark shade. (If you want to move this to the china shop it might be an intersting discussion.)

    Question Re: cyanuric acid test

OK does that mean I should be facing north? Also doesnt the time of day and weather the sun is out affect it.

Evan and I must agree to disagree--unless I'm mistaken, I'm following Ben's rules. I ALWAYS face the sun when I do it so I don't overestimate my CYA level.

But, it is more important to always do it the same way, to be consistent. Then, even if the numbers have to be a little higher or a little lower for you, they will always be consistently so and you will be able to compensate.
