Default Non-chlorine Shock ? Pool store said I needed it.

Went to get the ole water tested.

FC: 14 (shocked a couple days ago
    CC: 0.4
    PH: 7.1
    CYA: 39
    Alk: 110
    CaL HRD: 228

Pool is still cloudy, but anyway The pool store guy said I needed 2lbs os non chlorine shock. I thought the point of shoc was to add chlorine. It said it will remove chloramines. Is this legit?....they were 4.99 per lb. I didn't buy any and wanted to run it by the experts here.

With low CC, you likely don't have chloramines to get rid of. Patience may be all you need.

I agree with Watermom and JohnT--You killed the algae by shocking, now you have to run your filter to get it out. Backwash as needed....but don't buy the non-chlorine shock. If you need to shock it again (and I don't think you do),use bleach.
