1. Buy a NEW cheap local OTO / phenol red (yellow / red drops) and test your pool. Teststrips -- especially last year's test strips = "guess-strips". Report what you find.
2. Regardless, if your pH is below 7.0 (yellow pH drops solution), add 1 box of borax (slowly, via the skimmer, pump ON) every 4 hours. Test and repeat if the pH is still below 7.
