I shocked yesterday using 2 1/2 galons of bleach shooting for 15ppm. Still not sparkling so I need to shock again. Do I just go by my CYA count or is there another reading I need for reshocking the next day?
Thanks to all who have helped

Hi, Bobby,
You're almost right. Test your Cl again before adding more and only add enough to bring your Cl back up to 15.
(i.e.) If you test and Cl is 5, add 10 to bring it up to 15.
I assume your reference to CYA is off the recommended level from Ben's "best guess" table.
The speed with which your water clears will be influenced quite a bit by how frequently you test and add Cl. CAPTCHEMICAL posted some interesting info......he tested 6-8 times daily and cleared his pool in three days only......pretty good!
Dave,
When you say to test the CL level again are you talking about doing another CYA test and adding whats needed to get to 15ppm? Im still trying to get all this down myself.
Thanks
John
CYA will not change that quickly. What was being recommended was frequent Chlorine tests so that a level of 15 ppm is maintained in the pool throughout the day.
