I did something similar many years ago when I had an Intex donut: a PVC 3/4" double-ended connector fit perfectly inside a 1.25" vacuum hose, and plugged into the Intex drain. Worked like charm!

Thank you for posting the pictures for this thread PoolDoc. Is the thread still worthy as a sticky? I have a pictorial of my leveling the pool this spring that came out very well that I will be sharing soon.

This vacuum system worked well for me all summer. I just wish our season for using the pool was longer and warmer.
