Default To run day or night?

My Intex saltwater system will cut on everyday at the same time and the max it will run is 12hrs. I know that sunshine will deplete the chlorine in the pool.Should I run the system at night to help build up the chlorine for the day or should I run it during the daytime hours? It seems there is only chlorine in the pool when the machine is running or shortly after.

If sunshine is significantly depleting chlorine in the pool, then you might want to raise CYA. BTW, what is your CYA level?

It doesn't really matter if you run at night or during the day if the FC level at it's minimum is sufficient for the given CYA level. If you run at night, you may need to bring the level up higher so it lasts all day while the pump is off. However, if you run during the day, then chlorine will be added as the sun degrades it so the "peak" chlorine level may not need to be as high.

CYA is cyanuric acid, also called isocynuric acid or stabilizer. it is kind of like sunscreen for your chlorine. Without some in outdoor pools, you cannot keep chlorine in the pool.

Is this a new pool? What all have you added to the pool? Please give ingredients.

I run mine during the day for a couple reasons. First I believe this will help keep a more constant chlorine level, an secondly, it keeps the pool clear of debris during the day when the pool is used (I don't have to get the net out before diving in ).
