    Default Replace Pump

My Hayward Super Pump 1hp is, like others here, running extremely hot (can't touch it) and is now also running loud. It is 11 years old. I am second owner and original pump was also replaced at the 11 yr mark. Do I need to replace the whole pump or just the motor? Also, do I need to stay at 1 HP? I do not have a main drain. Just the skimmer and 2 returns.

    Also, should I order online?

    Thanks.

As long as the wet end is in good shape, your best bet is to replace the motor with a two speed motor so you can run it on low speed most of the time and save on energy costs.

Don't forget that you need a seal kit too.
