    Default 1 HP vs 1 1/2 HP

My Pentair WhisperFlo 1HP pump for the cleaning system just froze up so time for a new one. The question I have is should I stick with the 1 HP or is it OK to go to 1 1/2 HP. Because I can get a better deal on a 1 1/2 HP than a 1 HP.
The second pump for the filter system is also 1 HP.

    Any input appreciated.

More important, is the pump you are replacing uprated or full rated and ditto for the replacement pump. A full rate 1 hp Whisperflo is exactly the same pump as a 1.5 HP uprated whisperflo (which is often priced less than the full rated 1 HP. Both have a brake HP of 1.65! If you are replacing a full rated pump and you can get an uprated 1.5 hp for the same price do it. If the original is uprated then it is equivalent to a 3/4 HP full rated pump.
