Default jandy 2 speed pool pump problem

I have a Jandy 2 speed 1.5 hp pump I am having a problem with. It works all the time on the low speed but not always on the high speed. It happened after having the pool shut down for about 3 weeks to get it recoated. If I just turn it on nothing happens, if I flip the speed control switch 5-6 times it will eventually click on and run fine. Problem in the pump or switch where do I look?

    thanks

    Gary

It could be the external switch. How old is the pump? Also, some pump motors have an internal centrifugal switch and the contacts can get corroded.
