    Default Failing liner

We built our pool in 2000. The 6th season our liner was split sideways when we opened the pool about 18". Not covered under warranty because it wasn't in a seam. So we replaced the liner. This year when opened we has a split in the same spot and it has grown to about 18". I called the manufacturer. They had us send photos. Said it appeared to be a problem with the fit based on the floor seams. The seam is 5" out from the wall on the side the split is on. The AB measurement was good, but the depth is a little off in the shallow end where the tear is. Unfortunately...the pool builder informed me that he had retired and had closed his business and sold his assets. I guess we will be replacing the liner again, but don't want to have this happen again. I thought we would get at least 10 years out of a liner. Any suggestions?

One of the support team members, Waste aka Ted, is an installer. I will ask him to look at your thread. May be a bit, though. He is really busy this time of year!

You may want to post a pic. Use either flicker, picassa, etc.,

    Welcome to THE Forum!

A little more info would help (especially a pic). I'll assume that this is an in-ground pool??

There is a good chance that a patch will last you a few years and save you the $$ on a new liner for now.

HERE is a post with some patching a vinyl liner adv

I hope you can patch the liner and get through the rest of this season! If you need to replace the liner, you'll want to fill in the low area - I can give advice on how to properly do this.

Please let us know how the pool is and how you plan on dealing with this issue and we'll help all we can

Thanks for your reply. I am going to try sending you a drop box link with some photos. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/74hu4ykt9wi98do/hIgLCLOECd
Not sure if that will work, but the pics are of the split and the seam at the floor . I will check out the patching instructions. I do have a piece of our first liner that I can use for patching. It doesn't match but I think it will work. Is splitting in 6 years premature?

Oh... When I tried to go HERE for the patch information it said I was not authorized. I may have done something wrong registering.

    Thanks for any help....Gina

Sorry you didn't get a reply. If you still need to see it, log out and go to the In-Ground Pool Construction and Repair section. The thread you want is the 4th one from the top.
