starting fresh with new liner....

We are patiently waiting for our new IG liner to be installed....looking forward to not having to deal with liner pulls and shrunken old liner issues this year!!(....not sure where to begin with water chemistry when the pool is refilled. Any pointers on where to start....chlorine, stab...???

While you are waiting, so some reading here on the forum, especially the stickied threads and also over at www.poolsolutions.com.

Do you have a Taylor K-2006? If not, go ahead and order one. (Test kit link below.)

As the pool is filling, you can add some bleach to keep it from turning green until it is full enough to run the pump. Just pour a little bleach slowly around the pool when you have a couple of feet of water in there and use a clean broom, oar, or something to stir it up.

Once it is full, you will need to decide if you want to chlorinate with bleach and add some CYA separately, or use dichlor for awhile as it will add chlorine and CYA. If you decide to use dichlor, get it at Sam's. Other places add a bunch of unwanted stuff in their dichlor. Dichlor is acidic and will push your pH down, so you should have some Borax on hand to use if your ph gets too low.

Just had my new liner installed, and while i was waiting i ordered the Taylor K-2006C and got familiar with how to test. Some good vids on how to use the kit on youtube, along with the great advice here. This method is incredibly easy once you study it a bit, and more importantly, incredibly easy on the check book....
