    Default Chlorine too low

    Hi
2 weeks ago I set up an 18x48 intex ultra frame. I'm using 3" chlorine tabs. Each time I've checked with test kit the chlorine level is very low. Should I use 2 of them at a time? I also shock the pool once a week.

Also, do I replace the tablets weekly, even if they haven't totally dissolved? Thanks for the help

Hi, Ken and welcome to the Pool Forum!

A few questions. What kind of test kit are you using? What are the ingredients in your tabs? Look closely to see if they contain copper.

You do not routinely need to shock the pool. If you keep your chlorine in range and the water is clear, it is not needed. By the way, what are the ingredients of the shock you used? (Please read the Best Guess Chlorine Chart in my signature below.)

About tabs, use it until it is fully dissolved.

I encourage you to read a lot on the forum, especially the stickied threads at the top of the sub-forums. (Until your registration is completed, you will need to log out first to see the rest of the forum. ) Also, read on www.poolsolutions.com.

    Hope this helps.
