I also bought a Polaris 65 for my AG. It does do a very good job of picking up larger debris (leaves, twigs, etc.), but not so good about picking up dirt. Even with the cotton balls in it, it still doesn't do that great. Bottom line is that I can do a much more thorough and faster job myself with my manual vac, so that is what I do. I think I only used the Polaris once or twice all last season.

I have leaves falling in my pool year round, so I use my Polaris every few days in the summer. Then, because my pool is round, the circulation makes the small stuff that the polaris won't pick up, goes to the middle, and I vac that up manually. That way, when I vac to waste, I don't have to add water.
I've been using an Aquabot Pool Rover for my 26K gallon pool. It works very well and it's wheels are designed for a vinyl liner. It uses a jet pump for propulsion so just coasts on the wheels. I don't have to worry about dirt on the bottom of the pool. I got mine new last year off Ebay with an end of season discount it was $280.00 shipped to my door.
