If your chlorine levels are maintaining, then whatever was growing in your pool is dead. DE should filter it out, but I am not the expert on DE filters. You may have a torn screen, or something else that is causing the DE not to filter correctly, even too big a pump.

I go on the premise that if an additive has a catchy name I don't put it in my pool. If I don't know what's in it, I ABSOLUTELY don't put it in my pool!

Do you have a high calcium hardness and total alkalinity level? If so, you can get milky water no filter can clear!l

Once you rule out a problem with the filter you can try some other simple things, like a skimmer sock and adding Polyquat, the only algaecide we recommend. Polyquat can help clarifiy your water and can lower your FC as well.

Once you ru le out a filter defect and ensure all your algae is dead and you don't have a high calcium problem, you can add a quart of Polyquat and don't backwash. Gi ve it 24-48 hours to work and it may help. FC should drop to near zero after 48 hours but just add more bleach to compensate.
