Not necessary but do open up the air release valve on the top
And how do you soak a cartridge filter in part muratic acid and water if your filter is past my hips sitting on the ground.
Don't soad the cartridge in acid if there are any organics like algae on it. It will harden into a cement like mess and ruin the cartrigde. Soak it in a filter cleaner, degreaser like TSP (1 cup per 5 gal water), or powdered automatic dishwasher detergent like cascade or electrosol (which is mostly TSP or one of the non phosphate substitutes for it Use a large plastic garbage can and if the filter is too tall soak one half and then turn it over and soak the other half Hose the cartridge off before you soak it and again afterwards. If the cartridge is coated with green algae then soaking it in bleach is sometimes more effective than soaking it in TSP (about a cup per every gallon or two of water). After soaking hose it off well and if there are any visible scale deposits on the cartridge you can NOW soak it in a dilute acid solution to remove them.
This is something someone told me when since I am dealing with getting algea out of my pool. Please help with any info
hope this helps.
