Gonna trying running new PVC straight to the pool just to see if I can
get suction enough to at least circulate the water and eliminate
the air leak from the old roll pipe they used back then.
Then this will tell me if the pump just sucks

Put a ball valve in and had it set at 20 lbs of pressure and got it to at least
almost fill the filter bowl and not air out but barely any flow out the return.
No way I can vacuum. Doesn't suck enough to run to waste.
I'm waiting for glue to setup bypassing the original suction side (Possible air leak)
and running a line straight from the pump to the pool
I think the pump is about 4 foot from the water line
Don't think this pump can cut it. So word to the wise if you think you can
get away with a 3/4 HP pump and are over 25 ft with another 4 foot in lift
better double it and get the super pump
Funny thing is I had a 3/4 Jacuzzi pump before and worked like a champ
till the salt ate it up

4 foot lift and 22.5 ft of straight pipe
Went back out there after 20 minutes
Pump was primed and running at full pot
so I must have a bad leak on my original suction side
COuld a 1-1/2 HP super pump overcome a leak?

You clearly have a leak somewhere you need to find and fix.
