    Default Motor size?

I have a Hayward Super Pump, and it sounds like the motor bearings are starting to fail... I'm looking into replacing the motor, but the info label is missing. I did find a very small model number on another label... SP2600ZLC. However, i still have been unable to identify what hp this motor is so I can replace it. Anyone know how to determine the hp?

I think that may be the 1/2 HP version but to make sure you might want to look at the impeller part# stamped on the impeller.

The motor siezed this afternoon... I have it apart but still nothing to indicate hp. Impeller is model sp4007c.

New development! It appears that the pump is actually a Northstar. The motor must have been replaced by the previous owner, and I got Super Pump from the motor label. So the pump model is sp4020ns. It appears that this requires a 2hp pump... Can anyone confirm that for me?

Ok, from everything I can find, for an sp4020ns pump connected to 115v the only motor is a 2hp... Specifically a Usn1202 -Century Centurion A.O. Smith. Sound right?

The pump model doesn't match with the impeller number. If the impeller is a sp4007, you would need a 3/4 HP full rated motor in a 56j frame. Where did you get the pump model#?

I'm thinking that the motor was replaced by the previous owner, and it was not the correct motor for this pump... The pump model (sp4020ns) is clearly indicated on a metallic label on the pump housing... And I confirmed that the pump matches dimensions and appearance of the Northstar series in the online manuals. The motor was missinfg one label, but the other label clearly said "Super Pump" and the model# on the motor was Sp2600zlc... When I pulled it apart, the impeller was sp4007. Perhaps when the motor was replaced they also changed the impeller to match the new, wrong motor? Regardless, I am sure the pump is a Northstar, and I need to replace the motor. If that means I need a different impeller, so be it. Will this one work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/320960415104. (piping is 2" or 2.25", voltage is 115, so it appears that the only motor that matches the Northstar specs and my setup is the 2hp uprated motor)

The impeller may have been downsized by the previous owner to save money which it does. So instead of up sizing the impeller, I would just down size the motor and go for a 3/4 HP full rated or 1 HP up rated 56j motor. And while you are at it, you might as well look for a two speed motor such as the B973.
