Just posting to get started. No real questions at this time. I have a small (just under 9,000 gal) in-ground pool with a screen enclosure. I live in Northeast Florida so I have a nice, long swimming season. I keep the pool open year round as I find this uses less chemicals in the long run and makes maintaining the pool so much easier. My pool is surrounded by trees so the temp never gets above 85 even in the middle of summer and no direct sunlight means the chlorine stays in the pool much longer resulting in less chlorine tabs. I really could not have asked for an easier pool to maintain.
Bought the house two and a half years ago in December at a foreclosure sale. It had been empty for two years. The pool was a swamp. Started the pool clean-up in March. Had to purchase a new pump motor and filter cartridges but that was it. Started the filtering process, chemical process and scooped 35 gallons of algae off the bottom with a leaf skimmer. Vacuumed up the rest with the filter in bypass and in three weeks had crystal clear water. A month later we were swimming in it.
I'll post some before and after pictures later. Anyway, this is my first time owning and pool and so far I am loving it. Can't wait to use the forums.
