Others on the forum have asked my what my experience was with purchasing online plans for my pool. I live in Chula Vista, south of San Dieogo, CA and I purchased plans from pooldesign.net.

Pooldesign.net were very helpful at the start and willing to provide all the plans needed. When I submitted the plans to my city, I found that the plans were not what they normally see, and had more detail that what was expected. In addition, the engineer that signed the plans was unknown to the city and that complicated the process. The ciry said they would accept the plans, but it would take many weeks to approve them assuming they found no corrections, but if I used someone local the permit could be issued "over the counter". I asked pooldesign.net to help me adjust the plans to meet the requirements of the city, but found that it was easier to deal with someone local.

I eventually found a local person who cut and pasted the pooldesign.net plans into a form that met the cities needs and paid a local engineer to sign the plans. It cost an extra $300.00 to use a local company, but the plans were approved and I had my permits in one day.

At the time I started my pool, I did not have the contacts I have today and pooldesign.net was a big help because they got me started. Today, I would go straight to a local company for my plans and permits.
