Default Hayward SP 3400VSP changing speeds in "relay mode"

    OK,

I used to think I was tech savvy, but I just installed this in "relay mode" so my panel can turn it on and off, but the on-pump display/keypad does not seem to be operative so that when the pump starts (in speed 4 - high, I can't push the speed 1 - low). Am I missing somethings?

    Tons of thanks!

I have one too. I was unhappy to learn that when in relay mode, the control panel timers don't operate. Hayward confirmed that this is the designed operation. You can stop the pump with the stop button. You can set speeds for each of the combinations of relay contacts in the timers menu. In relay mode, the priming speed will respect the max RPM from the configuration menu - it will not with out relay mode and will prime at the pump's maximum speed.

    Big Dave,

Here is what I came up with:

Set the interface back to the Hayward option
Set Timer 1 to run from 12:00 AM to 11:45 PM (this way you can manually override at any time)
Set speed for Timer 1 to 1,750 RPM (speed 2 - you can choose whatever speed you like)
I set speed 4's time to 8 hours (so I can use it for the spa)

This way, the pump's internal clock will allow it to come on whenever the timer gives it voltage at speed 2, but I can manually override the speed by pressing the speed button that I want.

Yep, That sounds like it'll work. I have a solar controller and need the relay mode.
