    I'm having exactly the same problem you are and would love to hear suggestions anybody may have.

    Just a WAG but if it were my problem I'd consider cutting a bigger hole in the aluminum, nothing neat, past the corrosion so you're into good metal, then get a larger piece of aluminum with a skimmer hole cut in it and pop rivet that over the original corroded area. Squish a good bit of silicone seal between the plates and let it cure after pop riveting. Then install the skimmer housing.
