Default What to do with the cell phone

I need something to put my phones in while I swim. I am thinking of making a swivel box mounted on a pipe with a quick connect coupling on it without the gasket in it so it can be swiveled around. This way the open side could face away from the pool. What does everyone else do? I don't have a deck yet by the way.

There are waterproof cell phone cases available that are supposed to allow you to use the phone in the water. Search google for 'waterproof cell phone'

Don't know if they work or how much they cost but they are out there.

I haven't done this in the pool yet, but every time we go out in the boat I drop my cell in a regular zip lock bag. Just make sure there is enough air to keep it afloat if you drop it It works fine inside a ziplock you can hear pretty well.

If your cell phone is so important then don't go in the pool when the phone may get dumped. If you have to get the thing on the first few rings, you're nuts. People leave messages. If they don't then I don't want to respond. I lived the great part of my life without a cell phone and now it's just a convience.
If...the phone gets dumped, pull the battery immediately. Then let the thing dry in the sun for few days. Moisture has to be removed. If the battery is in then you get additional problems from electrolytic action on circuit boards and chips. While drying it, keep it hot and exposed to air. If there are any signs of moisutre, like in the display, don't power it, keep drying it.
You have nothing to lose by trying to salvage the thing. I'm amazed that a friend had an LG phone and dumped it for many minutes and later, it worked. I dumped a cordless in the pool twice, it kept working.

After dumping a cell phone in the pool, I have heard that the thing to do is imediately dump it into some rubbing alcohol, to displace the water, then let it dry out.

As for not being able to live without the cell phone, that is really not the issue at all, I don't always work everyday, but I am getting paid for it anyways, so the phone has to be convenient for me to answer it when they call. I also have a computer business, and missing calls there sometimes costs me some serious cash. The ziplock could work, I may try it, the waterproof bags meantioned are ok, I have seen them used while white water rafting.
Really, what I ultimately wanted was basically a swivel "house" for the items, which I may just have to fabricate myself. Easy enough.

They have all kinds of neat BlueTooth items for cell phones. They even have ones that attach to sunglasses.
