Default Any experience with E-Z Pool chemical?

New to the pool thing. I have a fiberglass pool, and the install company recommended a product called " E-Z Pool ". Its a granular additive ( possibly sanitizer/clarifier? ) that states it should be added weekly. It calls for a few scoops of the product, and after a full season, the cost will surely add up. (Equal to or more than the chlorine itself) It contains no chlorine, as that is added via an automatic chlorinator. Anyone have any experience, pros or cons of this product?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

"E-Z Pool … is a specially formulated system of friendly compounds that provide chemically purified bathing water… soothing, balanced, safe, tasteless, odorless, and easy to use. " I copied this directly from the Sun Tropic Pools, Inc. site.......no thanks. The only chemical purification that I need is chlorine!! I can't find anything anywhere that lists what this stuff actually is, other than it's used along with normal chlorinating routines....so I can't find any good use for it other than to make money for the people that sell it! And if I don't know what it is, then it doesn't go into my pool. I wouldn't waste any money on it.

Thanks! After reading a bunch of things on here, I began to wonder why I was buying this stuff, as it seems I already use the chemicals/chlorine that everyone else uses. I might have to try cutting this out of my routine in the spring. Thanks!

    Janet,
Thanks, I appreciate it. I will probably not waste my money on it. Still learning and reading as many posts as I can, and I can see why newbies are easily talked into purchasing stuff that they don't need.
P.S. I took all the advice, and ordered a Taylor test kit too!!
Thanks for all the information on this site!!!!!
