Maybe it's not the gasket but the cover may have a chip or crack in it where it leaks. I'm assuming you are using the Pool and Spa Lube on the gasket.
I have a Hayward Super Pump and decided to replace the pump strainer cover gasket.
For some reason, I cannot get the new gasket to stop leaking. It leaks only from the side of the lid where the two "protrusions" on the lid insert into the pump housing.
FYI, it's the Super Pump that has the square (or rectangular) lid, and is probably around 6-8 years old.
I've tried more than one gasket, but the leak continues, varying from spraying out when the pump is turned on, to a slow drip. Also, the replacement gaskets where sold under the "Leslies" brand, if that matters.
Is there a right and wrong way to install the gasket? (I've done this before without a problem)
Thanks
