I have never heard of Embedding anything into concrete for an AG pool, the sidewalk is supposed to give your buttresses a firm base to sit on, otherwise they will push into the ground over time and and the walls will start to lean outwards.
Remember that an AG pool is what's called a temporary structure, embedding any part of it in a concrete slab will change that designation to a permanent structure.
You could also put 2x2 patio blocks under tehm and you'd achieve pretty much the same thing.

It makes sense Matt 4x4. The previous owner (it is a used pool my wife decided to purchase) only had a few concrete peer with bolts to secure the buttress support. I tought that the concrete was stopping the oval from opening. The instruction indicates that the ciment will lean against the side support but not touch the pool wall.
