    Post Pool Closing Concerns

Its time to close my AG intex 32'x16'x52" 14,365 gal. pool. My ALK readings is and have been consistent at 140 , my pH is 8.0 and has been consistently so. My CYA is 70 my FC is currently 4.8. My concern: Can i close my pool with these readings? My water is crystal clear and has been since I started using the BBB pool care. I hate the thought of trying to fix something that does not appear broke. But, honestly....I just don't really know. This is my first year of owning a pool. Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cordially YvonneSEU

There is a stickied thread that talks about closing an AG pool. If you haven't already done so, it would probably be helpful for you to read it.

With a CYA of 70, I would take the chlorine up before you close the pool. Take a look at the Best Guess Chlorine Chart in my signature below. A FC of 4.8 is flirting with algae with that CYA level. (By the way, just use a 10ml sample instead of a 25ml sample when you test. It will save on your reagents.)

thank you, I am feeling less stressed about raising the chlorine level. Between last night and tonight I raised my chlorine level to 9.5. By looking at the best guess chart I see I can bring level up to 20. I have the polyquat ready to go, but my pump is a cartridge filter and it has no recirculate option. Instead of running the pump, can I run my pool rover?, its self propelled and will aerate the water while it vacuums. Is this an option? They way I understand the best guess chart, 5-10 should be my chlorine levels, up to 20 is shock level. I want you folks to know how much you are appreciated. Thank you again. YvonneSEU
