Capacitor exploded - Why?

brand new 2hp motor. 2 speed for spa. capacitor exploded on start-up. anyone know why? how to fix? thanks.

Wow, hope no one got hurt. Traffic forum has slowed down quite a bit now that most folks are closing their pools, but I'll get in touch with a couple of the motor guys and ask them to check in to see if they can help.

Infant mortality. Sometimes motors out of the box have defects. But if it is new, then it should be under warranty so return it to the vendor.
