Default wind and a pool cover

I put a cover on my AG pool, winched it down, put tons of clips on it, put some water on the top.....it is still blowing around like a parachute. So much that all the water blows to one side of the pool. I do live in the country with no wind barriers. What else can I do. I thought about the Saran wrap stuff but was told by a couple people it doesn't work well.

One other question. I have an aquadoor but it has the smallest leak around the outside that I can't seem to seal. Will some water in the skimmer hurt it?

I've heard of, but haven't worked with, a plastic film that's sold to to wrap around the edge of the pool and the wall to keep the wind out. I believe it's like saran wrap and sticks to itself.

If there's a water level in your skimmer, ice will break it. There are "gizmos" that thread into the bottom of the skimmer and are supposed to crush to relieve the ice expnsion and save the skimmer. Somone on this forum packs the skimmer solid with closed cell foam.

Do you have winter pillows under the cover floating on the water? They can help take the slack out of the cover, too.

I do have a pillow under my cover.

A friend of mine has an inground pool and she uses long tubes filled with water around the inside of the pool to hold the cover down. Would that work for an above ground too?

OMG My winter cover is blowing like crazy..Have bubble underneath and 2 clips between all posts..Wind getting in by upright posts and all water on top is blown to one side...Cannot go without cover her in NE and I never remember a cover blowing so much though I do live by water now and it is windy............
Afraid to tie anything to grommets for fear of pulling them out.. There must be a satisfactory conclusion????????????????
